Cleaning an oven is a task many people put off, but this simple method makes it far more manageable. Instead of using strong sprays or spending hours scrubbing, the approach relies on a few common household items: a dishwashing pod, a heatproof dish, and water. By using steam, it helps loosen buildup with minimal effort and without harsh odors.
To start, preheat the oven to a low temperature, around 200°F (93°C). While it warms, place water in a heat-safe dish and add a single dishwashing pod. Set the dish on the middle rack and allow it to heat for about an hour. As the oven warms, steam forms and the cleaning agents from the pod help soften grease and residue on interior surfaces.
After the heating period, turn off the oven and allow it to cool slightly so it can be handled safely. Using a damp cloth, wipe down the interior walls and door. In many cases, the loosened residue comes away easily. For areas with heavier buildup, the process can be repeated or followed with gentle wiping using a soft sponge or cloth.
This method avoids strong chemical fumes and uses items many people already have at home. It can be done periodically to keep buildup from becoming difficult to remove later.
