I bought my daughter Nancy a two-story house because I wanted to give her a lasting foundation for her future. At 24, after graduating college and beginning a career in digital marketing and animation, she was ready for a new chapter. The house, with its bright kitchen, spacious living room, backyard, and blue front door, represented the independence she was building. During the housewarming celebration, friends, relatives, coworkers, and neighbors gathered to support her.
While helping prepare the party, I unexpectedly met Jacob, Nancy’s biological father. Nancy explained that she had recently found him and wanted him to share in the occasion. Although I was surprised, I greeted him respectfully. His arrival brought back memories of the years I had spent supporting Nancy through childhood, school, difficult teenage years, college applications, and the beginning of her career. Later, Nancy gathered everyone in the living room and thanked them for attending.
