Kevin Bleyer, an accomplished television writer known for his sharp humor and political satire, reportedly died in a car accident on Sunday, October 25, at age 54. The accident occurred near his country home in Millrift, Pennsylvania, according to his family. His wife, Nella Vera, shared an emotional tribute remembering their life together.
Bleyer reached millions of viewers through his writing, particularly on The Daily Show. His contributions earned him four Emmy Awards in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2012. Actor Josh Gad remembered him as an exceptionally intelligent, naturally funny colleague with remarkable satirical abilities. The two had reunited during a performance of The Book of Mormon earlier that summer.
Beyond comedy, Bleyer worked on Disney+’s The Right Stuff and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, wrote speeches for President Barack Obama, and helped develop Kyrgyzstan’s Studio 7 political satire program in 2013. His books included Me the People and How to Sweet-Talk a Shark, co-written with former United Nations Ambassador Bill Richardson.
Vera recalled their relationship, which began in 2015 and led to marriage in 2025, as a decade filled with love, laughter, travel, and shared experiences. She described Bleyer as her soulmate and closest companion. He is survived by his wife, father Archie, brother Keith, sister-in-law Kelly, niece Lauren, and nephew Evan.
