A circulating account describes Abdul El-Sayed winning Michigan’s U.S. Senate election against Republican Mike Rogers, reportedly becoming the first Muslim elected to the Senate. However, these claims remain unverified.
According to the account, the 42-year-old candidate celebrated by thanking supporters from different communities who welcomed him into their homes and places of worship.
The narrative describes criticism from President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance concerning El-Sayed’s background, religion, and name during the campaign.
El-Sayed reportedly responded by emphasizing everyday economic concerns, including grocery prices, fuel costs, and financial pressures facing American families.
During an appearance at Western Michigan University, he allegedly joked that he would accept security screening if Trump agreed to undergo a lie detector test.
The account also attributes comments to El-Sayed about the 2020 election and Trump’s past association with Jeffrey Epstein, describing these exchanges as campaign talking points.
In the reported victory speech, El-Sayed addressed Vance with “Habibi,” referencing the Senate swearing-in ceremony. He then joked that Trump could simply call him “Senator.”
The story concludes with a message about inclusion, representation, and belonging in American politics. While these themes reflect the account’s central message, the reported election result and attributed quotations require independent verification before publication as factual news.
