Rita’s story is one that leaves a lasting impression. For years, she lived on the margins of society, surviving by collecting bottles to earn small amounts of money. Each day was focused on getting through, and each night meant facing cold and isolation. Once, she had hopes for stability and a sense of belonging, but over time, those hopes were replaced by the need to simply endure.
Her life changed dramatically after the loss of her only son. Without support, grief led to isolation, and that isolation eventually led to life on the streets. As time passed, Rita became increasingly overlooked. Opportunities were limited, and her circumstances made it difficult to rebuild, despite her willingness to work and move forward.
A turning point came when she met Shafag Novruz, who is known for helping women regain confidence. Rather than focusing only on appearance, Shafag approached Rita with compassion and respect. Before beginning any visible transformation, she ensured Rita received dental care, reinforcing the idea that her well-being mattered.
From there, gradual steps followed, including grooming and thoughtful styling that helped restore a sense of dignity and self-worth. As Rita saw these changes, something deeper shifted within her. Her confidence began to return, and she started to imagine new possibilities for her future. While the transformation did not solve every challenge, it renewed her sense of hope and direction, showing how meaningful change can begin with understanding and support.
