A plane accident in North Carolina resulted in the deaths of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Christina, and their two children, Ryder and Emma. Authorities stated that a total of seven people lost their lives in the incident, including other passengers Dennis Dutton, his son Jack, and Craig Wadsworth. Officials confirmed that the cause of the accident has not yet been identified and remains under investigation.
The family was traveling on what was planned as a birthday celebration trip. Christina’s mother, Cathy, later shared information about the final message she received from her daughter. She explained that Christina sent a short text from the aircraft indicating there was a serious situation, after which no further communication was received.
Cathy said she had spent time with the family the day before the trip and described their visit as positive and full of warmth. She noted that remembering those final moments together has been emotionally challenging, while also reflecting on the happiness they shared. Family friend Garrett Mitchell, publicly known as Cleetus McFarland, acknowledged the loss in a social media statement and said the family had been traveling to meet him.
According to a witness near Statesville Regional Airport, the aircraft was seen flying at a low altitude before the accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Reports indicated the plane ignited after impact. Airport officials, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the incident and stated that a formal investigation is underway as the community awaits additional details.
