The small light above your stove may seem harmless, but many homeowners wonder whether leaving it on overnight
is safe or wasteful. The answer depends mainly on the type of bulb, the kitchen setup, and how the light is being used.
Modern low-wattage LED bulbs generally use very little electricity and are designed to operate for long periods. Leaving one on occasionally or overnight will usually
have only a small effect on energy use, provided the bulb is compatible with the range hood and installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
However, keeping any light on continuously can gradually reduce its service life and may create unnecessary brightness, particularly
in homes with open kitchen layouts. If the light is not needed, turning it off is the most energy-efficient option.
For households that want some visibility during the night, alternatives such as motion-activated lights, plug-in night lights, or suitable dimmable lighting can provide softer illumination.
In general, using the appropriate bulb and following the appliance manufacturer’s recommendations are the best ways to balance safety, convenience, and energy efficiency.
