CEILING LIGHTING BUYING GUIDE

There are a number of types of ceiling lighting available for you to buy. These include chandeliers, pendants, flush and semi flush mounts fixtures and island and track lighting, just to name a few. The type of ceiling lighting you go for will depend on your home décor theme, the care needed for the lighting as well as the practicable use of the lighting, i.e., where the ceiling lighting will be used.

Chandeliers are perhaps the most commonly used lights for ceiling lighting. They are very ornamental and come in many other subtypes. They are suitable for use in living room, dining rooms and hallways where there’s enough room to accommodate them. Other rooms are not suitable candidates for the chandeliers.

Pendants are also a favorite among many. They are best used in living rooms and dining rooms. They can also be used in the bedroom, but not very suitable there. This is because moisture, grease and grime that are common on these other rooms will render the pendants (and chandeliers as well) prone to attracting the dirt, thus needing more cleaning than is recommended.

Flush and semi flush lighting are best for use in almost any room in the home, be it the living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. The semi flush lighting has an advantage of allowing light to permeate up the ceiling as well as down, creating an illusion of a higher ceiling. Flush lighting on the other hand is good for rooms that have small spaces and low ceilings.
