3 simple design ideas for new homeowners

Buying a new home is an exciting and overwhelming process. It’s one of the biggest steps people take in their life, and a lot of thought goes into choosing the right home. The last thing you want is to spend your hard earned cash on a new home, move it in, and worry about how you are going to decorate or style your new home.

Furniture can be incredibly expensive, it can be daunting to develop themes for every room, but I wanted to share a few simple design ideas for new homeowners. There are a lot of simple things you can do to make your new place your home away from home, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve it.

In the second-hand shop, in the flea market or in second-hand shops, you can get many things that you need to upgrade your home. Today I wanted to share with you my top three tips and tricks when it comes to decorating and styling your home with ease! Let’s jump into the first one!

Simple design ideas

Designing your new home doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as buying it. It can feel like this when you walk into a place with bare walls and empty rooms. Today you will learn everything about how to make rooms appear larger and how to make an effective first impression!

Create higher ceilings

I don’t know anything about you, but I think high ceilings look elegant and expensive. If you move into a house without high ceilings, you may feel claustrophobic. It’s not exactly a feature that can be easily fixed by waving a wand and extending the ceilings, but I have the next best thing for you.

The only thing you need to make these rooms bigger are curtains and curtain rods, that’s it! It is said that hanging curtains can trick your mind into thinking that the room is much bigger than it actually is, but there is a certain trick.

When measuring the length of the curtain needed, start at least three inches above the window frame. There is a chance it could reach a length of 84 to 96 inches above the frame to the floor. When you hang the curtain over the window frame it creates the illusion that the room is actually bigger than it is and it is a simple and easy solution.

In terms of curtains, if you don’t have a specific pattern in mind, fabric with vertical lines will add extra reinforcement to the illusion that the ceiling is higher than it actually is. The last thing you can do if you want it to look like an even bigger room is paint the ceiling. Lighter paint colors This makes the room appear larger, and you can even match the ceiling color to that of the walls to create an additional illusion of more space.

Playing with mirrors

Curtains and paint aren’t the only things that can make you see a room bigger than it is. Mirrors can do that too. It is a good rule of thumb to have at least one mirror in every room of your home. Mirrors can get expensive, which is why it’s great to check out thrift stores and flea markets.

Mirrors can also make every room feel much brighter when positioned perpendicular to a window. If you hang the mirror directly over the window, the light is reflected directly out of the window. Mirrors hung in the right place can do a lot for your room, but they can be hung in the wrong place the opposite effect.

First impressions

My last tip is certainly one of the most important that you can incorporate into your new home. The first thing people see when they visit us is your door and entrance. Not many people think of it, however Paint your front door a fun color can really make a difference. Your home will stand out and invite your guests.

It makes your home unique and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on paint or spend hours painting an entire room. It is good to note that certain colors are associated with certain feelings. Colors like yellow and orange stand for luck and warmth, while red stands for security, love and passion. Consider Verification What feelings to match the color you want to use on your front door before buying paint.
