Stone Wall Fish Camp is a complex of lake homes on the edge of Lake Martin in Alabama. Designed by Jeffrey Dungan Architects in a rustic style, their design seeks to capture and maximize the calm and relaxing atmosphere that defines this entire area.

The topography and views served as sources of inspiration for the interior and exterior design of each lake house. We are particularly interested in the interiors, more specifically the wooden wall panels that have been used here to create a rustic and warm atmosphere. All this wood looks beautiful in combination with stone and metal.

This rustic home from Jackson, Wyoming has a very interesting history. The exterior is made of stone reclaimed from a former Hutterite dairy and milking station from the 1860s and 1880s. The structure was dismantled and then relocated here where JLF Architects collaborated with Big D Signature to create this rather charming home. The weathered stones give it a lot of character and the wooden walls give the interior a very cozy atmosphere.

Lazy Heart Ranch is a beautiful and welcoming residence in Bozeman, Montana. There’s a lot we like about it, from its location on the site, its orientation and the fact that it makes the most of the views and landscape that surrounds it.

The ranch was designed by Brechbuhler Architects, who used a palette of simple and pure materials to connect the structure with the surroundings and create a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. A flagstone walkway leads to the entrance and inside you can see that a lot of wood has been used everywhere, including on the walls. Reclaimed wood and barn wood are used in a variety of ways and give the rooms a lot of character.

A somewhat similar design strategy was used by OM Architecture for the bedroom of this modern residence in Kiev, Ukraine. The idea here was to create an interior design reminiscent of a chalet and to achieve this, the designers incorporated a wooden wall in the master bedroom. The structure actually covers part of the floor and wall and serves as a kind of frame for the bed (platform and headboard).

When remodeling an apartment in Montreal, designer Anne Sophie Goneau faced challenges with the existing structure and appearance of the space, so the decision was made to demolish some of the buildings. This helped expose the brick walls and steel elements, which was exactly what the designer wanted.
