How to care for Bathroom Rugs

Bathroom rugs are more about safety than design. Like cell phone covers. They protect your phone from looking scratched and beaten (and gives it an artistic touch). Wet feet and floors (or vice versa) don’t combine well. It can have dire consequences for you or your loved ones. However, you can save yourself the hassle of cleaning up after a shower by placing a bathroom rug.

Bathroom rugs are simple and don’t cost a lot. They are available in many colors and designs to add a bit of zing to the floor. You may want to choose a rug with a rugged bottom so that it doesn’t slip when you step on it.

Keep your rugs right outside your shower area or bath tub. It will allow you to wipe your feet dry when you come out of the shower. You can even place these rugs outside your bathroom so that wet feet don’t stain the carpet or the floor. These rugs can also come in handy during winters when the bathroom floors are just too cold to stand on. They can provide comfort to your feet (and make the cold more bearable).

If your bathrooms have high traffic, opt for washable rugs. There are latex backed rugs available that mimic the look of more expensive ones. You can either throw them in the washer or spot clean them.

However, the use of bathroom rugs is not restricted to just wiping feet. You can add a wool rug in front of the vanity but make sure you don’t step out on them directly out of the shower or that your bathroom is large enough so that you don’t run it over with wet feet.
