How to make a faux Bed Headboard?

Headboards can completely revamp the look of a bed. You can add a touch of style and make a personal statement with a simple bed headboard. They come in different sizes, from slightly larger than the bed to overwhelmingly large. If you want to add one, you can make it at home, without taking up even an inch of the floor and costing less than $20. All you need is a masking tape, a level, a roller (small one preferably) and some paint.

Use the tape and level to measure a rectangle on the wall behind your bed. Keep the specifications of the rectangle according to your preference but we suggest keeping it about 3 feet off the floor and around two to four inches wider than the mattress. Once you’re done, fill the whole area with two coats of high gloss paint. Your bed headboard is now ready.

Alternatively, you can use other items, such as old mattresses, painting frames and even quilts to make a faux headboard.

Prop up an old mattress behind your bed and cover it with colorful sheets. Or hang painting frames on the wall behind and paint the area inside (you can also use paint pens to design and create your own headboard). It’s better to paint the headboard in contrast with the wall to make it more impactful. Quilts are also an inexpensive solution. Hang an old quilt on the wall using nails or curtain holders and tie the ends to the bed. You can even slide the quilt under the mattress to make it look like a headboard.
